About Us...Then and Now
I, Rebecca, have had a love for rabbits for as long as i can remember. I got my first bundle of fur when I was 11 years old. She was a broken black mini lop I named Speck. Between then and now i have had mini lops and holland lops. It wasn't until spring of 2010 that i became interested in raising and showing rabbits. Shawn (my husband) took a little convincing, but he now seems to love rabbits ALMOST as much as I do. In fact, our whole family loves on and cares for the bunnies :)
McGill's rabbitry is small but growing. Though it's been hard to choose, we found the need to limit ourselves to the Netherland Dwarfs and American breeds. Our focus has narrowed on our dwarfs while we wait for the larger breeds to reach breeding age. My goal for our rabbitry is to provide our family with a hobby we can learn together, raise quality rabbits and encourage others along the way.
I, Shawn think this whole rabbit thing is addicting. The rabbits, not to talk about the kits just steal your heart. We have also really enjoyed all the great people we have met in our endeavor to learn about and acquire quality breeding stock. I have over the last year developed a passion for breeding rabbits. I love the fact we are always trying to improve the quality, health, and temperment of our rabbits, just like breeders have been doing for hundreds of years!
